Tailoring is a real craft and even with a combined team experience of almost seventy years, every day we learn something new, whether it be about cloth, pattern making, technique or body type the process is always evolving.
Special commissions are the best way to put that knowledge and experience to the test, especially if there is not much historial reference or images to call on. In the past few years we have enjoyed the challenges that come with recreating garments worn by forefathers and creating new 'hybrid' styles born from our clients' ideas.
Over the last few years we’ve seen a complete revival of the iconic Smoking Jacket. Originally worn after dinner to protect clothing from Gentlemen’s cigar smoke whilst enjoying a brandy or two, the Smoking Jacket and Velvet Cocktail Jacket has now become the perfect accompaniment to a pair of tartan trews.

Ordered a Blue Bonnet only on Wednesday of this week hoping to get it for the Remembrance Parade tomorrow down here in Swansea. Due to really short timeframe I wasn’t hopeful. However; Blue Bonnet arrived today by Special Delivery. Fantastic surprise, gorgeous looking Bonnet, outstanding craftsmanship; perfect fit and a nice touch by also including a Red Hackle. I have been buying from Fitz for some time now and can say that his work is second to none. I have known Lee for some time now, and can honestly say I have never come across a more knowledgeable person when it comes to military dress. His attention to detail is second to none, and what he doesn't know is not worth knowing in my opinion. As a piper myself, who wears full ceremonial dress, having Shilling and Fitz available for any tailoring required, really is a blessing.
We offer a full size medal and miniature medal court mounting service. Our medals are mounted in accordance with the Military Rules and Regulations set by an ex Military Master tailor. The cost for our medal mounting service is £20 for the first medal then £10 for each medal after that.
If you require medal ribbons for your uniform, the cost of this is £10 for the first ribbon the £5 for each additional ribbon. This includes the time taken to stitch the ribbons on to your garment. We can also supply medal ribbons on a bar with clutch pins.
If you require us to supply replacement or additional full size and miniature medals we also offer this service. Cost is dependant on the medal.
